World Art Fair, Dubai WTC

19th March, 2022 - This date is etched in memory for long. It was a long weekend (Holi time in India) and I planned on celebrating the weekend in a special style. I was very happy to know that Dubai is organizing an art fest at a global level which includes 300 top artists from all over the globe who would be show casing their art works.

A. Introduction:

My aunt Antra, who we know is a profound artist and has great expertise when it comes to play on the canvas, was also a participant in this mega event. I thus decided why not utilize this weekend to meet her (as myself and mummy haven’t met any family member for so long) and Amit mama and also enjoy the culmination of so many great artists and witness their impeccable art work.

So the plan was made and the date saved. We were going to Dubai on the Nineteenth.

B. The Commute:

As per our previous experiences traveling to Dubai, it takes a toll on your mood and energy levels if you decide to take the public commute (although it saves on your pocket, but there is a trade-off). If we went via the bus then the cost would be less 25 AED per head. But since it is a weekend and also the final couple weeks of Expo2020 the rush is bound to be massive. Hence I had to make my mind that whether we want to save on the cost or make the most of the moment - the decision was simple! Hire a Cab! : )

Traveling to Dubai via cab is so much fun. First thing is you don’t have to go any special place or pickup location to catch the cab. You can get it right from your door step. And to ride it in itself a completely new ball game.

You get to hear your favorite music in the comfort of the well quipped AC cab. Just to add to the element the drivers are so friendly. They are not like your usual cab drivers, they like to get indulged with you and you can have a chit-chat (totally up to you!!). The roads are so much smooth and jam free that it is so much fun get cruising along. You can simply forget the world behind and enjoy the 1 and a half hour long ride till the destination - which in our case was World Trade Center, Dubai.

                                                                Pic credits - Mummy!

                                                                        Pic Credits - Selfie!!

So we got the cab right outside our apartment "Burj Al Saadiyat". The driver greeted afternoon to us and then I shared our destination by saying, "Brother! please take us to Dubai WTC for the world art fair". And he obliged. We enjoyed the ride.

On our way we saw multiple sky scrapers but the obvious stand out was when we saw the Burj khalifa. Mummy quickly made  a small video clip out if it.

We had left at around 12:15 pm and in about 1:30 hrs we reached the venue, it was simply majestic. The whole place was made up so well and neatly organised in large complexes. It was surrounded by good big palm trees which were so well groomed and were adding to the natural beauty of the place. The electronic hoardings were so huge and they consistently broadcasted the major events happening. And this turned out to be quite useful (almost :P ). We had asked from the cab driver where the entry point was and also got it cross verified with the tower guard. Like I said its so easy and people in UAE are so approachable. Really like it.

Ultimately we made way towards our destination. It was the World Trade Center after all.

To be honest, I was somewhat mesmerized  by the overall view of the place. How everything was complementing each other was really beautiful. We enjoyed the ambiance for a while clicked a few pictures and videos and then we made way inside. Because we had to keep a track on time as had to return back to Abu Dhabi the same day.
